Barbet owners and breeders from around the world have been invited to attend the first Barbet Symposium to be held on 4th August 2012 in Châtel-Guyon, France
The event is being hosted by the Société Centrale Canine (French Kennel Club) with the S.C.C. President, Mr Christian Eymard Dauphin. Also participating will be Professor Raymond Triquet (responsible for standards), Professor Bernard Denis (genetics specialist), Mr André Varlet (Director of the S.C.C.) and Dr Catherine Andre (Researcher at the French Institute of Scientific Research).
There will not be open floor questions during the Symposium but questions for the SCC panel are invited to be submitted in advance to the breed club President, Mme Renée Rault.
The event is being held in conjunction with the National Elevage (National Show) of the Club du Barbet, Lagotto et Autre chiens d`eau. To allow participation in both events the judging of the barbet in the National Elevage will take place first, starting at 08.30am and be finnished by 09.30am. The Symposium will then begin at 10.00am, with breaks for lunch and to see the Best in Show, the Symposium will finnish around 6.30 to 7.00pm.
On Sunday the 5th August, at the same venue, is the Châtel-Guyon Show with the Water Dog Group being judged by Mme Renée Rault, the President of the Club du barbet, lagotto et autre chiens d`eau.

The Barbet Club of G.B. is hoping to have six or seven barbets attending and look forward to making a positive contribution to the event and hope to benefit greatly from the increased focus on the barbet from the S.C.C. experts attending.
